Garbage Hill

What do you do when you have a garbage dump that is all of a sudden in the middle of an expanding city?

Cover it in grass and call it a park!

This has always been my favorite tobogganing site in Winnipeg, especially the side pictured here (where "Danger! No Tobogganing!" signs are plentiful).

Hi Bryan, I love your picture of Garbage Hill. My running group does hill training once a week at GH. Would you give me permission to use the photo on my running blog? I will give you credit and link to your blog. I post every Sunday. Have a look and let me know. Michael

Hey Bryan,
Just stumbled upon your site but I have been admiring your work on Facebook for quite sometime. I think you've done a great job presenting a city that I have come to love despite its issues.

Hi Bryan, Thank you for bringing back so many wonderful memories to me. Growing up in the Northend,
"The Dump" as my Mom and Dad told us it was called, was always a landmark. In the winter, a source of tobagganing fun. My Mom still recalls as a child "playing" on the hill with friends. Whenever I come "home" to visit, I always take a walking tour through "The Dump" on my way to Polo Park. Wonderful Photos!
